MAHB launches Rimba, a nature-inspired transit area at KLIA, to enhance passenger comfort and flow ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026.
SEPANG: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) is enhancing operations and infrastructure at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to streamline passenger flow and elevate the travel experience ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026.
Managing director Datuk Mohd Izani Ghani said measures to reduce congestion, including refinements to screening and queue management, have contributed to smoother passenger movement.
“Many of these improvements happen behind the scenes, but when passenger flow is clearer, travellers can feel the difference,” he said after a walkabout at KLIA.
He added that the improvements will also influence KLIA’s standing in international airport benchmarks like Skytrax and the Airports Council International Airport Service Quality awards.
The airport operator recently unveiled Rimba, a new nature-inspired environment for transit and transfer passengers at KLIA Terminal 1.
Located in the Satellite Building, Rimba was launched by Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Dr Wan Ismail on Jan 1.
Mohd Izani explained that Rimba is an upgraded version of the former Jungle Boardwalk, designed to prioritise passenger comfort and experience.
“With 50 to 60 million passengers passing through KLIA each year, how travellers feel during transit matters,” he said.
He added that Rimba offers a more comfortable pause between flights while giving passengers a sense of Malaysia’s rich, natural character.
Spanning 970 square metres, the area features refreshed entrances, enriched greenery, locally crafted rattan lighting and garden-style seating to ease travel fatigue.
