Nestle CEO apologises for global infant formula recall

Nestle CEO Philipp Navratil apologises for a precautionary recall of infant nutrition products across dozens of countries, citing a quality concern.

ZURICH: Nestle CEO Philipp Navratil has apologised for a global recall of some infant nutrition products.

The recall across dozens of countries is a fresh setback for the Swiss consumer goods giant after a challenging 2025.

“Before I explain the situation in more detail, I first want to apologise sincerely for the worry and disruption this may have caused parents, caregivers and our customers,” Navratil said in a company video.

He stated that all related recalls have now been announced.

Navratil confirmed there have been no confirmed cases of illness linked to the products to date.

The recall increases pressure on the KitKat and Nescafe maker and its new CEO.

Navratil is seeking to revive growth through a portfolio review following recent management upheavals.

He explained the firm confirmed a quality concern at a factory in the Netherlands in December.

This led to a precautionary recall across several European countries where the affected products from that plant were sold.

The recall has also put pressure on Nestle’s share price. – Reuters
