Customs Department cuts operating cost to RM2.13 per RM100 revenue

The Customs Department reduces its operating cost to RM2.13 for every RM100 of revenue collected in 2025, demonstrating improved fiscal efficiency.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysian Customs Department has reduced its operating cost for every RM100 of revenue collected to RM2.13 in 2025.

This marks an improvement from RM2.26 in 2024, demonstrating the department’s increased efficiency in managing government allocations.

Director-General Datuk Wira Anis Rizana Mohd Zainudin said the reduction reflects better revenue returns from the government’s investment in the department.

She made the remarks on Bernama TV’s ‘Ruang Bicara’ programme in conjunction with the 44th World Customs Day.

Total revenue collection for the agency under the Ministry of Finance amounted to RM76.18 billion for 2025.

This represents an increase of RM10.61 billion compared to the RM65.57 billion collected in 2024.

Total expenditure for the department stood at RM1.62 billion.

“The operating cost for every RM100 decreased to RM2.13 in 2025 compared with RM2.26 in 2024,” said Anis.

She emphasised that the cost reduction showcases the department’s efficiency in managing its resources.
