Donald Trump pardons ex-Puerto Rico governor Wanda Vazquez Garced, who faced bribery charges, along with two co-defendants.
WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has pardoned Puerto Rico’s former Governor Wanda Vazquez Garced (pic), who was previously indicted on federal corruption charges.
The Justice Department’s Office of the Pardon Attorney updated its list of clemency grants to include a pardon for Vazquez dated Thursday.
A White House official on Friday confirmed Trump would pardon her, calling the case “an example of political prosecution.”

Vazquez was arrested in August 2022 on bribery charges related to financing her 2020 gubernatorial campaign.
Trump also pardoned Vazquez’s co-defendants Julio Martin Herrera Velutini and Mark Rossini.
The president has granted a flurry of pardons since assuming office last year, many to white-collar criminals and political allies. – Reuters
