Mindef allocates RM850,000 for 17 MAF Jiwa MADANI community projects in Melaka, focusing on civil-military cooperation and cost-saving initiatives.
MELAKA: The Ministry of Defence has allocated RM850,000 to implement 17 projects under the Malaysian Armed Forces Jiwa MADANI initiative in Melaka.
Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the initiative is part of the Civil-Military Cooperation programme. It aims to strengthen community ties and enhance awareness of the shared role in national defence.
“The projects will focus on initiatives that contribute to the well-being of the community, such as repairing the cemetery fence in Kampung Cheng,” he said.
He spoke to reporters after officiating the 2026 Mindef Jiwa MADANI Project handover ceremony at Masjid An-Najwan.
At the ceremony, RM50,000 was allocated for maintenance of the Masjid An-Najwan Muslim Cemetery fence. The work was carried out through a gotong-royong involving military personnel and the local community.
Mohamed Khaled said the MAF is always open to collaborating with the state government to implement physical projects as a cost-saving measure.
“If a project by a contractor costs RM200,000, it may deliver one project,” he said. “However, if carried out through gotong-royong with the MAF, we can probably implement three projects with the same allocation.”
Also present were Melaka state exco Datuk Rais Yasin and senior Mindef and army officials.
