Pahang police urge traders to get permits for festive fireworks

Pahang police remind traders to obtain permits for selling firecrackers and fireworks ahead of Chinese New Year to avoid legal action.

KUANTAN: Pahang Police are urging traders to apply for permits to sell firecrackers and fireworks ahead of the Chinese New Year celebrations.

Chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said this step is necessary to avoid legal action against unlicensed sellers.

He confirmed that his department has already received several permit applications for the festive period.

“The permit applications are the same as in previous years,” he told reporters.

He added that police are screening each application based on the established conditions.

Yahaya also advised the public to be considerate when using fireworks.

He specifically warned against setting off firecrackers after midnight, as the noise constitutes a public disturbance.

“If set off at that time, it can be categorised as public disturbance and action can be taken,” he said.

He urged everyone to maintain harmony in their respective areas during the celebrations.

The chief was speaking after the Pahang PDRM Contingent Retirement Celebration for 2025.

A total of 89 police veterans who completed their service in 2025 were honoured at the event.

Yahaya said the ceremony was the highest recognition of their services and sacrifices to the country.
