A six-year-old girl is missing in Sarawak, feared to have fallen into Sungai Daro, with search operations suspended until tomorrow morning.
SIBU: A six-year-old girl is missing and feared to have fallen into Sungai Daro in Kampung Panchor, Daro.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call at 2.28 pm and dispatched a team from the Daro station.
According to a department statement, the girl left her home alone through a back gate without her parents’ knowledge.
Her father later discovered her footprints leading towards the river around 1 pm and alerted the authorities.
Search teams combed the riverbanks and the forest behind the house within a 500-metre radius.
Villagers also assisted the operation using boats to search upstream and downstream.
Operations were suspended at 6 pm and are scheduled to resume tomorrow morning.
