Repair works for the landslide-damaged Jalan Lojing-Gua Musang slope will begin in March, with a temporary road diversion planned first.
GUA MUSANG: Repair works on the failed slope along Jalan Lojing-Gua Musang (FT185) are scheduled to commence in March.
Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said a temporary road diversion will be constructed first to reopen the route to traffic.
The Public Works Department’s Slope Engineering Branch will act as project director, responsible for planning and supervising the maintenance.
“This long-term contract reflects the MADANI government’s commitment to improving road infrastructure and slope safety for user comfort,” Nanta told reporters.
He spoke after surveying sites for the Lingkaran Tengah Utama (LTU) project, accompanied by Kelantan JKR director Nik Badlihisham Nik Ismail.
The road has been fully closed since a landslide occurred on December 3 last year.
In a separate development, Nanta said the government has allocated RM96 million to upgrade the East-West Highway (JRTB) section in Kelantan.
This follows yesterday’s announcement of a RM350 million allocation to upgrade the JRTB section in Perak under the 13th Malaysia Plan.
Preliminary work for the highway project could start this year, with physical implementation hoped for next year.
