A fire destroyed four hectares of forest reserve near the Sungai Kelambu Water Treatment Plant in Banting
SHAH ALAM: Approximately four hectares of forest reserve near the Sungai Kelambu Water Treatment Plant (LRA) were destroyed in a fire.
The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) received an emergency call at 12.43 pm yesterday.
Seven officers and personnel from the Banting Fire and Rescue Station responded with one fire engine.
They arrived at the scene, located near the Lionsteel industrial area in Banting, at 1.03 pm.
Operations Officer Hamdan Hamzah said the duty team conducted monitoring and held discussions with zone officers.
The Selangor State Forestry Department (JPNS) has been informed and will provide excavator assistance.
JPNS will also activate tube wells near the site of the fire.
Hamdan noted that firefighting efforts can only begin today.
This delay is due to the lack of a water source and road access to the location of the blaze.
