Modi to visit Malaysia for bilateral talks with Anwar

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold talks with Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim during a two-day official visit to Kuala Lumpur starting Saturday

KUALA LUMPUR: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin a two-day official visit to Malaysia on Saturday.

The visit is being undertaken at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

This will be Modi’s third visit to Malaysia, according to a statement from India’s External Affairs Ministry. The two leaders are scheduled to hold bilateral discussions.

“The India-Malaysia relationship is multi-faceted and growing,” the Indian statement said. It added that the visit provides an opportunity to review the entire spectrum of bilateral cooperation.

Areas of cooperation highlighted include trade, investment, defence, security, and maritime affairs.

Other key sectors are digital and financial technology, energy, healthcare, education, culture, and tourism.

Modi will also interact with members of the Indian community in Malaysia. His itinerary includes meetings with industry and business representatives.

The 10th India-Malaysia CEO Forum is scheduled to take place during the visit.
