Malaysia targets 100 more MADANI parks this year

The Housing Ministry has completed 217 MADANI Recreational Parks nationwide, with another 100 targeted for this year as part of a long-term green space plan.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Housing and Local Government has completed 217 MADANI Recreational Parks nationwide.

Minister Nga Kor Ming said the ministry is targeting another 100 such parks to be completed this year.

“The dream is 1,000 parks,” he said in a post on social media platform X.

He shared details of a completed upgrade at Taman Komuniti Lebuh Arked in Sungai Petani, Kedah.

That project, finished last October, cost RM499,800 and developed a three-acre area for community use.

The national goal is to develop 1,000 MADANI Recreational Parks by 2035.

An allocation of RM85.6 million has been provided to the National Landscape Department for this initiative.

The programme aims to expand public green spaces and improve community well-being.

It is a key ministry initiative to bring recreational facilities closer to the people.

Since its launch in 2024, the ministry has reportedly exceeded its annual target of building 100 parks.
