Customs seizes RM2 million in drugs from Mentakab house

Pahang customs confiscated over 44 kg of drugs worth RM2.03 million from a terrace house in Mentakab, with a separate raid netting untaxed alcohol and cigarettes.

KUANTAN: The Royal Malaysian Customs Department in Pahang has seized a large cache of drugs with an estimated street value of RM2.03 million.

The haul, weighing over 44 kilogrammes, was discovered during a raid on a terrace house in Mentakab, Temerloh.

State Customs director Mohd Asri Seman said the drugs included methamphetamine and Erimin 5.

They were found in several packages during the operation around 12.40 pm on Jan 22.

“Investigations revealed that the suspects had been using the unoccupied house as a storage and distribution point,” he said in a statement.

No arrests have been made so far, and investigations are ongoing to identify those involved.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

In a separate operation, customs officers seized 1,737 litres of various types of alcohol.

The alcohol, valued at approximately RM63,482, was suspected to be untaxed.

It was found at another unoccupied terrace house on Jan 26, with evaded duties and taxes estimated at RM166,095.

During the same raid, officers also found 43,200 sticks of untaxed cigarettes.

The cigarettes were valued at RM3,456, with duties and taxes estimated at RM29,808.

This case is being investigated under Section 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967.
