12 police personnel detained over foreigner’s missing cryptocurrency

12 police officers are being investigated after a foreign national reported the loss of cryptocurrency in Kajang, with the case being probed under the Penal Code.

SHAH ALAM: 12 police personnel have been detained to assist in an investigation into the loss of cryptocurrency belonging to a foreign national.

The incident occurred in the Kajang district earlier this month.

Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said a report regarding the loss was received at 2.06 pm on Feb 6.

“Following the report, immediate action was taken, leading to the detention of 12 police personnel to assist in the investigation,” he said in a statement.

He confirmed the case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code.

Shazeli stressed that the department would not compromise with any officer or personnel found to be involved in criminal activities.

He also urged the public to allow the police to complete their investigation without interference.

The public should avoid making any speculations that could disrupt the ongoing process.
