Fifteen military children and veterans finish 14-day technical training in Non-Destructive Testing, moving to industry placement under LTAT’s skills programme
KUALA LUMPUR: The first cohort of the LAKSAMANA 3.0 skills programme has completed its intensive technical training phase.
Fifteen children and veterans of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) finished their 14-day training in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) yesterday.
A certificate presentation ceremony at RSA Academy Sdn Bhd marked the end of the training, which began on 8 February at the Kemaman Advanced Technology Training Centre (ADTEC).
According to the LTAT Foundation, participants underwent a comprehensive module covering theory, industry standards, practical real-world training, and technical documentation discipline.
“The emphasis was also placed on work integrity, inspection meticulousness, and safety compliance in line with the needs of the high-tech industrial sector,” the foundation stated.
NDT is a critical competency in industries like oil and gas, aerospace, construction, and energy, requiring high precision and safety standards.
This early exposure to a real work environment strengthens the participants’ technical foundation before the next phase.
Aligned with the programme’s Train & Place model, participants will begin a two-month industry placement starting 1 March.
This placement allows them to apply their acquired skills in a real work setting, assessed against current industry competency standards.
The integrated approach ensures the programme goes beyond short-term training to provide a more sustainable and competitive career pathway.
From 127 applications received, only 15 participants were selected after a rigorous screening process.
This reflects the high level of competition and the defence community’s confidence in this skills development initiative.
“The careful selection also ensures the involved participants are truly ready to meet the demands of both training and industry,” the foundation added.
LAKSAMANA 3.0 follows a memorandum of understanding between the LTAT Foundation and the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology in May 2025.
Cohort 2 is scheduled to begin in April, with Cohort 3 starting in August, targeting a total of 40 participants this year as per the phased plan.
