KL Wellness City hosts Ironman Florida send-off and welcomes new strategic partners, strengthening Malaysia’s position as a global wellness and medical hub

KL Wellness City (KLWC), Malaysia’s first purpose-built wellness metropolis, marked a dual milestone this week by hosting the Ironman Florida, USA Send-Off & New Strategic Partnership Celebration at the KL Wellness City Gallery.

The event was graced by Mr. Suriaghandi Suppiah, the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC).

KL Wellness City’s Executive Director, Dato’ Sri Dr. Vincent Tiew, congratulated Mr. Suriaghandi on his appointment and expressed optimism for stronger collaborations in positioning Malaysia as a global leader in healthcare and wellness tourism.

Mr. Suriaghandi Suppiah, Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC), wished both KL Wellness City athletes a fruitful and successful journey at Ironman Florida, USA.

Representing Malaysia and KL Wellness City at the upcoming Ironman Florida 2025 on 1 November are Dato’ Sri Dr. Vincent Tiew and Mr. Ng Choon Keith, two accomplished triathletes who embody KLWC’s commitment to promoting active and healthy living.

Dato’ Sri Dr. Vincent, recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records for completing the most Ironman competitions by an entrepreneur, has competed in 15 full Ironman races across three years.

Ironman Florida will mark his 16th, following recent appearances in Nice and Barcelona. Mr. Ng, a five-time Ironman and two-time Oceanman finisher, was the first Malaysian to complete India’s 81 km River Bhagirathi open-water swim, another Malaysia Book of Records achievement.

Both athletes will proudly carry the MHTC and “Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism (MYMT) 2026” flags, symbolising Malaysia’s drive to become a premier global wellness destination in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026).

In line with its growth as a comprehensive wellness hub, KL Wellness City also welcomed three new strategic partnersSQL by EIST, 100DNA by Anemos, and Danai Wellness Spa — expanding its collaborative network to 15 partners. These partnerships strengthen KLWC’s ecosystem of integrated healthcare, wellness, and digital innovation.

An additional collaboration with EF Store Sdn Bhd, the brand behind the popular plant-based Avomilk wellness drink, underscores KLWC’s commitment to promoting natural, preventive, and accessible wellness solutions.

“KL Wellness City represents a forward-looking vision that aligns strongly with MHTC’s mission to position Malaysia as a leading global destination for healthcare and wellness,” said Mr. Suriaghandi Suppiah, CEO of MHTC.

Dato’ Sri Dr. Vincent Tiew added, “This celebration reflects KL Wellness City’s dedication to championing wellness in every dimension — from physical endurance to strategic collaborations that drive innovation and community wellbeing.”

The event concluded with a symbolic flag-off ceremony for the Ironman athletes and the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the new strategic partners.
