Besut police chief Superintendent Azamuddin Ahmad confirmed all suspects aged between 21 and 40 were arrested when they attended the Besut Police Headquarters to provide statements.
He revealed that the 36-year-old victim who lodged the police report about the incident was also detained as part of the investigation process.
Police received a report at 1.32 am concerning an incident believed to have occurred around 11 pm in front of a house in Jertih.
According to the report, a man claimed he was assaulted by a group while conducting live streaming using his mobile phone outside a suspect’s residence.
The victim had reportedly visited the suspect’s house to resolve a misunderstanding that had developed between them.
Upon reaching the front of the house, the victim refused to enter as requested by the suspect, leading to an argument and subsequent commotion.
Several family members of the suspect emerged from the house and a physical altercation broke out.
During the scuffle, one family member snatched the mobile phone the victim was using for live streaming.
The victim sustained injuries including bruises to the back of his head, both elbows, left finger, and back from struggling and falling.
His vehicle was also allegedly damaged during the incident according to police reports.
All suspects were taken to Kuala Terengganu Court this morning for a remand application.
The case is being investigated under Sections 147 and 427 of the Penal Code for rioting and mischief.
Azamuddin urged anyone with information about the case to contact investigating officer Inspector Mohamad Effie Ezral Mohd Izham.
A viral video circulating yesterday showed the victim and his wife with their child in a car before the incident occurred.
