JERTIH: A businessman known as ‘Datuk’ and his younger brother have been charged in the Sessions Court here with vandalising a woman’s car.
The brother also faces separate charges of causing hurt to a man.
Both individuals pleaded not guilty before Judge Ahmad Fadhli Mahmud to the incidents, which allegedly stemmed from a dispute over land transactions and went viral online.
Mohamad Azlan Abdullah @ Ali, 38, and Mohd Mustakim, 31, are accused of damaging a car belonging to a 36-year-old woman at her home in Kampung Pengkalan Buloh, Jalan Tok Raja, Jerteh, at 11pm on October 23.
The alleged vandalism caused losses of 5,000 Malaysian ringgit.
They were charged under Section 427 of the Penal Code read with Section 34, which carries a jail term of one to five years, a fine, or both upon conviction.
The court granted bail of 6,000 Malaysian ringgit each with one surety and ordered the accused not to interfere with the victim or witnesses.
Separately, Mohd Mustakim and three others pleaded not guilty to causing hurt to Wan Hafizie Wan Mohamad, 36, at the same time and place.
Ramli Mohd, 56, Muhammad Shafiq Hakimi Hussain, 24, and Muhammad Haiqal Mirzan Mohd Mazli, 23, joined Mohd Mustakim in facing charges under Section 323 of the Penal Code.
This section carries a maximum jail term of one year, a fine of up to 2,000 Malaysian ringgit, or both if convicted.
Bail of 1,500 Malaysian ringgit each with one surety was set for these charges, along with a non-interference condition.
The case will be mentioned again on November 24.
Meanwhile, Wan Hafizie also pleaded not guilty to two charges of criminal force against Mohamad Azlan and Mohd Mustakim.
These charges were brought under Section 352 of the Penal Code, which is punishable with up to three months’ jail or a fine of 1,000 Malaysian ringgit.
The court fixed bail at 500 Malaysian ringgit with one surety for Wan Hafizie.
His case has been scheduled for mention on November 17. – Bernama
