Caregiver caught abusing elderly man in Kedah nursing home

A horrifying video shared by Seberang Perai Municipal City Councillor, David Marshel shows a caregiver at a Padang Serai, Kedah nursing home beating an elderly man with a stick.

Taking to Facebook Marshel wrote: “The caregiver of an elderly care centre in Padang Serai beats an elderly person with a stick.

“I believe a police report has been lodged against the management.

“Hopefully, the police will take action to rescue the residents.”

The disturbing footage shows the caregiver yelling at the victim before repeatedly striking him with a stick.

Moreover, in the video it is seen that the victim attempts to back away, but the abuse continues even as he falls to the ground.

Marshel further alleges this isn’t an isolated incident, stating he received reports of wider abuse at the facility.

He additionally urges the welfare department to increase monitoring of care centers and revoke licenses for such violations.

This incident highlights the importance of proper vetting and oversight for caregivers entrusted with the well-being of vulnerable populations.
