YKN launches Ramadan support platform for teenage girls

Yayasan Kebajikan Negara launches a Ramadan programme for 100 vulnerable teenage girls, focusing on identity, strength and core K.A.S.I.H values.

KUALA LUMPUR: Yayasan Kebajikan Negara (YKN) has launched a comprehensive intervention platform specifically for teenage girls navigating difficult life phases.

The ‘Program YKN Kasih Ramadan: HER Journey’ is designed as a journey to build self-identity, hope and inner strength.

Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri stressed these groups should not be left to navigate their struggles alone. “While we enjoy Ramadan with our families, we must realise there are teenage girls going through difficult phases in life,” said Shukri, who is also YKN chairman.

She said they are at a critical stage of identity formation that requires support, confidence and emotional stability. “They need guidance and the opportunity to rebuild their strength and move forward with greater self-assurance,” she added at the programme’s opening ceremony.

The event involves 100 participants from YKN’s Anjung Sinar programme, aged between 15 and 19. Participants include orphans, victims of abuse or neglect and teenagers under court orders in accordance with the Child Act 2001.

Nancy added that the initiative aligns with the ministry’s K.A.S.I.H core values. These are Kasih Sayang (Love), Akhlak Mulia (Noble Character), Sihat (Healthy), Ilmu (Knowledge) and Harmoni (Harmony).

She stated these values form the foundation for a balanced, inclusive and holistically sustainable community.
