Batu Pahat court remands parents of boy slashed in assault case

A Batu Pahat court has issued a two-day remand order against the parents of a six-year-old boy severely injured in an assault.

BATU PAHAT: A Batu Pahat Magistrate’s Court has issued a two-day remand order against the parents of a six-year-old boy who was severely injured after allegedly being slashed in Kampung Parit Nipah on Monday.

Magistrate Norasidah A Rahman granted the order against the 41-year-old couple today, allowing police to detain them until tomorrow to assist with their investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by a dangerous weapon or means.

The two suspects, represented by counsel Muhamad Izwan Ishak, were brought to the court complex in a police vehicle at 8.15 this morning.

They were initially arrested at 4.00 pm yesterday within the grounds of the Batu Pahat district police headquarters.

It was previously reported that the boy sustained severe lacerations, believed to have been caused by a knife.

The incident was discovered by his mother around 5.30 am after she awoke.

The victim was treated at Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital and is now reported to be in a stable condition and able to speak following surgery. – Bernama
