EPF declares 6.15% dividend for 2025, payout hits RM79.6 billion

The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) announced a dividend rate of 6.15% for 2025 for both conventional and Shariah-compliant savings accounts.

PETALING JAYA: The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) announced a dividend rate of 6.15% for 2025 for both conventional and Shariah-compliant savings accounts, slightly lower than the 6.3% declared in 2024.

The total dividend payout is expected to reach RM79.6 billion, benefiting millions of contributors nationwide.

Despite the lower rate, the absolute payout for conventional savings has in fact grown compared to 2024, when EPF distributed RM63.05 billion at the higher rate of 6.3%.

The increase in total payout reflects the continued growth of funds under EPF’s management, even as the percentage return moderated.

For Syariah savings, the 2024 dividend stood at 6.3% with a total payout of RM10.19 billion — also higher than this year’s rate, though again the absolute payout has risen to RM12.5 billion in 2025.

EPF’s conventional savings dividend history over the past decade reflects the fund’s performance through varying global economic conditions.

The rate stood at 6.35% in 2013, before climbing to a decade-high of 6.75% in 2014.

It then moved to 6.4% in 2015, dipped to 5.7% in 2016, and recovered to 6.9% in 2017 — the strongest rate in recent memory.

Subsequent years saw the rate ease to 6.15% in 2018, 5.45% in 2019, and 5.2% in 2020, before partially recovering to 6.10% in 2021.

It then settled at 5.35% in 2022, 5.5% in 2023, and 6.3% in 2024, before the current 6.15% for 2025.

EPF’s Syariah savings scheme, which was introduced in 2017, has recorded the following dividend rates since inception: 6.4% in 2017, 5.9% in 2018, 5.0% in 2019, 4.9% in 2020, 5.65% in 2021, 4.75% in 2022, 5.4% in 2023, and 6.3% in 2024, before this year’s 6.15%.

Last year’s 6.3% dividend was the highest since 2017, reflecting strong performance despite global market volatility, with a total payout of around RM73.24 billion.

EPF members can check their updated 2025 statements from February 28 onwards and are encouraged to review them via the KWSP i‑Akaun portal.
