The Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon 2026 sold out for Malaysian residents in just over five hours, with international slots still available until July.

THE 18th edition of the Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon (KLSCM) has sold out for Malaysian residents just over five hours after public registration opened this morning.

Individual runners can still apply to register under the Run For A Reason (RFAR) charity initiative to raise funds for this year’s beneficiaries, which include the Standard Chartered Foundation, Hospis Malaysia, Kechara Soup Kitchen, Teach For Malaysia, and Yayasan Jantung Kongenital Malaysia.

Runners who missed out on a slot are also advised to watch for upcoming promotions from KLSCM’s official partners offering entries.

Project Director Rainer Biemans expressed gratitude for the incredible response from the running community, stating the organisers look forward to welcoming everyone to the ‘Hari Raya of running’.

Biemans added that non-Malaysian residents can still sign up for KLSCM 2026 until 31 July or until all 4,000 dedicated international slots are taken, building on last year’s record number of international participants for Visit Malaysia 2026.

He noted that the running community’s standards have improved tremendously in recent years, and KLSCM is proud to continue providing an international platform for runners of all levels to showcase their ability.

KLSCM 2026 will be held on 3 and 4 October 2026 and is the most anticipated distance running event in the country.

The event is owned and organised by Dirigo Events with Standard Chartered Malaysia as the title sponsor, while ASICS and IHH Healthcare are the Gold sponsors.

Other official partners include 100 Plus, Counterpain, High5 Nutrition, Seiko and TudungPeople.

The marathon is supported by venue host Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), Malaysia Athletics, World Athletics, the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), the Malaysian Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, and the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Police.

Additional support comes from the Malaysian Highway Authority, Konsortium Lebuhraya Utara – Timur (KL) Sdn Bhd (Kesturi), and Projek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd (PROLINTAS).
