Thunderstorms and heavy rain warning for most of Malaysia until 9 pm

MetMalaysia issues weather alert for thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds across most states in Malaysia effective until 9 pm tonight

KUALA LUMPUR: Most states across Peninsular Malaysia and parts of Sarawak and Sabah are under a weather warning for thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds until 9 pm tonight.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department issued this alert at 5.30 pm, highlighting numerous affected districts nationwide.

Perlis and Kedah districts including Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu are among the warned areas.

Perak’s affected areas encompass Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim.

Kelantan’s warning includes Pasir Mas, Jeli, Tanah Merah, Machang and Kuala Krai districts.

Terengganu is affected in Dungun and Kemaman while Pahang’s alert covers Cameron Highlands, Raub, Bentong, Temerloh, Maran, Kuantan, Bera, Pekan and Rompin.

Selangor’s warning applies to Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat with Kuala Lumpur also included in the alert.

Negeri Sembilan areas affected are Jelebu, Jempol and Tampin while Johor’s warning spans Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Mersing, Pontian, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru.

East Malaysia sees the alert covering Kuching, Serian and Sibu in Sarawak along with Sandakan, Telupid and Beluran in Sabah.

Residents in these areas should remain vigilant and take necessary precautions during this period of severe weather conditions. – Bernama
