Malaysia cuts BAS.MY 30-day unlimited bus pass price from RM50 to RM30 nationwide, saving commuters up to RM300 monthly
JOHOR BAHRU: The BAS.MY 30-day unlimited travel pass for stage buses across Malaysia has been reduced from RM50 to just RM30 per month.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced the price reduction takes effect immediately, allowing the public unlimited bus rides for as low as RM1 per day.
He said this initiative helps reduce living costs and enables commuters to save between RM200 and RM300 each month.
The Johor Bahru Stage Bus Service Transformation programme has recorded the highest passenger numbers in the country since its 2022 implementation.
A total of 940,000 passengers have used the service this year alone.
The BAS.MY implementation in Johor Bahru now covers 21 routes, three more than the previous 18 routes.
The Federal Government will invest RM134.94 million over two years to ensure continued SBST services in Johor Bahru.
This amounts to RM67.47 million per year in government funding.
Loke urged Johor Bahru BAS.MY operators to increase efforts toward achieving one million monthly passengers.
The reduced pass price applies exclusively to Malaysian citizens while non-citizens pay full fares.
This initiative will expand to all states with BAS.MY services so more people can benefit.
BAS.MY Medik will launch in Johor Bahru by year-end using specially modified vans.
This service will transport dialysis patients, disabled individuals, and wheelchair users.
Two specially equipped vans will provide door-to-door transportation to medical facilities.
Bookings for this on-demand service will be available through mobile applications or phone calls.
Loke will visit the RTS project site today to monitor construction progress.
Fares for the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System Link have not been finalised yet.
The minister said RTS fares would be determined together with the operator soon.
This site visit helps authorities understand implementation status and take early action if needed. – Bernama
