PETALING JAYA: Police have closed Km113 and Km114 of the East Coast Expressway (LPT 1)near Lanchang after water rose to the danger level at the stretch.
The affected location is between the Lanchang and Temerloh interchanges.
The decision was made following surveillance carried out by the federal traffic investigations and enforcement department (JSPT) deputy director (I) SAC Datuk Mohd Nadzri Hussain.
The Temerloh toll plaza at KM 126 (west-bound) was also closed and traffic has been diverted to an alternative route.
âPolice together with the highway concessionaire will monitor this situation continuously to avoid any accident. It is advisable for all heavy and light vehicles not to use flooded roads to avoid increasing the risk of accidents, especially at night during heavy rains. The people are also advised to obey all warning signs on the roads to avoid unwanted incidents and to avoid travelling through landslide and flood prone areas,â the department said in a statement.
It added that when possible, the public should either plan their trips cautiously or postpone it if they are travelling through flood-prone areas.
âLastly, we urge the public to closely follow current information and developments from sources on the official social media of the department, authorised agencies and also the East Coast Highway (LPT) concessionaire,â police said.
Police also said that no road accidents due to floods and landslides have been reported to date.
