International Sepaktakraw Federation praises PM Anwar’s support for elevating sepaktakraw as Malaysian cultural heritage and national identity.
THE International Sepaktakraw Federation has expressed its highest appreciation to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for his continuous support in elevating the dignity of the sport.
ISTAF Secretary-General Datuk Abdul Halim Kader stated that the Malaysia MADANI agenda has injected confidence and inspiration into the entire sporting community.
He affirmed that sepaktakraw serves not just as heritage but also as a channel for international diplomacy.
Abdul Halim noted the Prime Minister understands cultural heritage must thrive within a modern system based on knowledge and sports science.
This understanding opens a new chapter in strengthening sepaktakraw’s position as Asia’s most influential heritage sport.
ISTAF looks forward to full government support for sepaktakraw’s inclusion as an official Olympic sport in the future.
The federation expressed confidence that with Anwar’s leadership, Malaysia can become a global leader in upholding this world heritage sport.
Abdul Halim also serves as the President of the Asian Sepaktakraw Federation.
He extended appreciation to Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh for her professional commitment and dynamic leadership.
Yeoh’s efforts in establishing the Malaysian Sepaktakraw Academy will create a world-class centre of excellence for the sport. – Bernama
