The US presents a UN Security Council draft resolution to support Trump’s Gaza plan, including an international security force and transitional body

UNITED NATIONS: The United States has circulated a draft UN Security Council resolution to bolster President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace initiative.

US Ambassador Mike Waltz shared the document with the Security Council’s 10 elected members and key regional partners on Wednesday.

The draft resolution welcomes the “Board of Peace,” a transitional Gaza governing body chaired by Trump.

It also authorises the International Stabilisation Force outlined in the US peace proposal.

Diplomatic sources confirm several nations are willing to join the force but require a Security Council mandate first.

“Under President Trump’s bold leadership, the United States will again deliver results at the UN — not endless talk,” a US mission spokesperson stated.

The international force was part of the agreement that secured the fragile October 10 ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

This ceasefire followed two years of intense violence triggered by the October 7 attack.

Under the deal, troops from mostly Arab and Muslim countries would deploy to Gaza as Israeli forces withdraw.

“The parties have seized this historic opportunity to finally end decades of bloodshed,” the US spokesperson added.
