Malay author Yumi Hyra shares how she got reply letters from Daniel Radcliffe and Tom Felton back in 2005
FOR many Potterheads, the ultimate fantasy is receiving an acceptance letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. But for one Malaysian author, that dream “almost” came true in a rather magical way.
Rom-com author Yumi Hyra recently shared on Threads that she received not one, but two letters — from Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter himself) and Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy).

A lifelong fan of the franchise, Yumi revealed that she had written letters to both actors when she was younger.
To her surprise, she received replies from them in 2005, the year Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was released.
“This was way back in 2005, and I still remember my mum getting worried when a letter with a UK stamp arrived at our house. Turns out, her child had a crush on the Harry Potter movie actors and had sent them a letter,” Yumi shared.
The letters arrived with autographed portraits of both actors. In his note, Radcliffe even answered Yumi’s questions.

When asked about his guitar lessons, he explained that he had been “so busy on Goblet of Fire and revising for exams” that he had to pause the lessons temporarily.
Yumi also asked him about the most “bewildering” thing he found about girls.
Radcliffe’s answer — “I never know whether they are laughing with me or at me!” — sounded charmingly reminiscent of the wizard he portrayed.
Fans flooded the comment section, expressing their delight and envy.
“Sis really hit the jackpot with those replies. And the photos? Bruh, I would’ve DIED if I got them,” commented Adline Rahim.
Another fan, Siti, said she read the letters in Harry and Draco’s voices, while Hani noted that such mementos are treasures to boast about to future grandchildren.
