UN reports record Israeli settler attacks on Palestinians in October

Israeli settlers carried out 264 attacks in the West Bank during October, the highest monthly total since UN tracking began in 2006.

UNITED NATIONS: Israeli settlers conducted at least 264 attacks against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank during October.

This represents the highest monthly total since United Nations officials began recording such incidents in 2006.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs issued a statement warning about the sharp rise in violence.

These attacks resulted in casualties and property damage, averaging eight incidents per day.

“Since 2006, OCHA has documented over 9,600 such attacks,” the UN body stated.

“About 1,500 of them took place just this year, roughly 15% of the total.”

The West Bank is home to 2.7 million Palestinians and central to future statehood plans.

Successive Israeli governments have rapidly expanded settlements, fragmenting the territory.

The United Nations, Palestinians and most countries consider these settlements illegal under international law.

Israel disputes this interpretation, with over half a million Israeli settlers living in the West Bank.

OCHA also confirmed that 42 Palestinian children had been killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank this year.

“That means one in every five Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank in 2025 has been a child,” OCHA said.

Israel’s mission to the United Nations did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

These West Bank attacks occurred despite a US-brokered ceasefire in the Gaza war during October.
