Four protesters face multiple charges including property damage and endangering lives after disrupting Israeli orchestra performance with flares in Paris
PARIS: Four individuals have been formally charged for disrupting a concert by Israel’s national orchestra at the Paris Philharmonic hall.
The three men and one woman were arrested following Thursday’s incident where protesters repeatedly interrupted the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra performance.
Videos circulating on social media showed a protester holding a red flare inside the concert hall with smoke billowing throughout the venue.
Other concertgoers were seen rushing to confront the individual during the disturbance.
The visit by Israel’s orchestra had drawn criticism from several groups protesting Israel’s military offensive in Gaza.
Prosecutors confirmed all four appeared before a judge on Sunday and were placed under judicial supervision.
They face multiple charges including property damage and endangering others’ lives.
Additional charges include possession of incendiary materials and organising an unauthorised demonstration.
The suspects are also accused of refusing to submit to fingerprinting and identification procedures.
Violence involving the use or threat of a weapon completes the list of charges against the four protesters. – AFP
