Terengganu attracted RM9.87 billion across 50 projects since 2022, creating 5,661 jobs with foreign investments driving 88% of the total value.
KUALA TERENGGANU: Terengganu has attracted 50 investment projects worth more than RM9.874 billion from 2022 to June this year.
State Digital Economy, New Income, Trade, Industry and Green Technology Committee chairman Mohd Nurkhuzaini Ab Rahman said RM8.687 billion comprised foreign direct investments.
These investments created 5,661 new job opportunities in the state.
“This achievement was made possible through various promotional and investment missions jointly carried out by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority, the State Economic Planning Unit and other relevant agencies,” he told the state assembly sitting.
He said efforts focused on the manufacturing and services sectors to attract high-impact foreign investments.
The state government is bolstering its investment ecosystem through key initiatives including upgrading industrial infrastructure in Teluk Kalong, Kerteh and Kemaman areas.
New strategic investment zones are being developed in northern and central Terengganu focusing on non-metallic minerals, renewable energy and smart agriculture.
The Terengganu Green Technology Master Plan (PITIH 2030) serves as a key framework to attract green investments in renewable energy, smart waste management and low-carbon urban development.
“Through PITIH 2030, the state government is committed to transforming Terengganu’s natural resources into high-impact green investment opportunities,” he said.
This aligns with the state’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals. – Bernama
