Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim says Perodua’s electric vehicle development reflects Malaysia’s commitment to green technology and sustainable mobility
KUALA LUMPUR: Perodua’s electric vehicle development demonstrates Malaysia’s commitment to green technology and strengthens the national automotive industry’s capabilities.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the EV initiative also reflects dedication to creating job opportunities and offering affordable, high-impact products.
He visited Perodua’s operations in Sungai Choh, Rawang to review the company’s performance and meet its workforce.
During a briefing session, Anwar learned about Perodua’s current performance and upcoming plans for its first EV model launch.
“This initiative coincides with the spirit of Malaysia MADANI, which emphasises progress based on sustainable values,” he said in a social media post.
The Prime Minister added that economic progress and human values can complement each other in this endeavour.
He stated that innovation and environmental responsibility represent two sides of Malaysia’s aspiration for a green, competitive economy.
Anwar expressed confidence that Perodua will continue strengthening Malaysia’s automotive ecosystem.
