Ex-Umany president claims trial to disobeying police order

PETALING JAYA: Universiti Malaya Association of New Youth (Umany) former president was charged in the Magistrate’s Court today with disobeying the order given by a police officer during a raid at a house on Saturday.

Wong Yan Ke, 24, claimed trial after the charge was read out to him before Magistrate Nurshahirah Abdul Salim.

The Civil Engineering graduate is alleged to have disobeyed the order given by ASP Lee Robert to stop a live video recording during a raid on Nov 7.

The charge, under Section 188 of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to a month or a fine, or both, upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Atifah Hazimah Wahab asked the court to set bail at RM7,000 for the accused.-Bernama
