Selangor residents can get up to 100% local authority tax rebates for installing eco-friendly facilities like solar panels and EV chargers from 2026
SHAH ALAM: Selangor will introduce a local authority tax rebate for residents with eco-friendly technology facilities in their homes starting next year.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari announced that eligible residents can enjoy up to 100% tax rebate for the assessment year 2026.
Applicants must apply through their respective local authorities and undergo a verification process.
Four city councils will each allocate RM1 million for tax exemptions: Petaling Jaya City Council, Shah Alam City Council, Subang Jaya City Council, and Klang Royal City Council.
Other Municipal Councils will provide RM200,000 allocations, while Sabak Bernam District Council will allocate RM100,000.
Amirudin identified qualifying eco-friendly facilities during his Selangor Budget 2026 tabling at the state assembly.
These include solar panel installations to reduce grid dependency and rainwater harvesting systems.
Household waste separation systems, electric vehicle charging units, and food waste composting systems also qualify.
The Menteri Besar cited MBPJ’s successful implementation of a similar system previously.
“MBPJ received 2,313 applicants who were granted tax rebates totalling RM878,205.05,” he said. – Bernama
