A mechanic dies after being struck by a lorry while checking a punctured tyre on a trailer in Temerloh.
KUANTAN: A mechanic was killed after he was struck by a lorry while checking a punctured tyre on a trailer at KM119.5 of the East Coast Expressway (LPT) heading west in Temerloh today.
Temerloh police chief ACP Mohd Nasyim Bahron said the noon incident resulted in the 48-year-old man dying at the scene.
He said initial investigations showed the trailer had stopped in the emergency lane due to a punctured rear tyre. The victim was at the location to check and replace the tyre.
“While the victim was checking the tyre, a lorry travelling in the same direction grazed the trailer and struck the victim, who was sitting on the road,” he said in a statement today.
The victim’s body was sent to Temerloh Hospital for a post-mortem scheduled for tomorrow. The 36-year-old lorry driver and the 35-year-old trailer driver escaped unhurt.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
