Malaysia shares sixth place with Hungary, Poland and the United Kingdom.

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s passport has climbed to sixth place in the 2026 Henley Passport Index, jumping sharply from 12th last year and reinforcing its standing among the world’s most powerful travel documents.

According to the latest ranking, Malaysian passport holders enjoy visa-free access to 183 destinations. Malaysia shares sixth place with Hungary, Poland and the United Kingdom.

Austria, Greece, Malta and Portugal occupy fifth place, with visa-free access to 184 destinations.

Singapore retained the top spot globally, offering visa-free access to 192 destinations.

At the bottom of the index, Afghanistan remained last, with access to just 23 destinations without a prior visa.

The Henley Passport Index ranks 199 passports based on the number of destinations holders can enter without obtaining a visa in advance.

The index covers 227 travel destinations and is compiled using data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), supplemented by research from Henley & Partners.
