IPOH: The iconic ‘IPOH’ sign near the Gunung Lang area here has been dismantled to allow for checks, repair, and refurbishment works to be carried out.
The Ipoh City Council (MBI) said in a statement that the move was taken to ensure the sign’s structure and condition remain safe, well-maintained, and preserved as a proud landmark of the Perak state capital.
The local authority added that the sign’s reinstallation is expected in stages from Aug 4 to Aug 6, depending on weather and on-site progress, with full completion anticipated by Aug 15.
“MBI seeks the cooperation and patience of city residents throughout the duration of these works. Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted,” the statement read.
MBI reiterated its commitment to keeping public facilities and city landmarks well-maintained for the safety, comfort, and well-being of its residents.
