Two men charged with murdering 24-year-old saleswoman Saraswathy Chan in Seri Kembangan, facing death penalty or 30-40 years imprisonment
PETALING JAYA: Two men were charged in the Magistrate’s Court today with murdering a saleswoman whose body was discovered last month.
Information technology officer K. Kaarthiek, 26, and lorry driver A. Hariprasanth, 23, acknowledged the charges before Magistrate Shahril Anuar Ahmad Mustapha.
No plea was recorded since murder cases fall under High Court jurisdiction.
The duo are accused of killing 24-year-old Saraswathy Chan Chee Keong at Jalan Orkid near Blue Water Estate roundabout in Seri Kembangan.
The alleged murder occurred between 6.18pm on October 24, 2025, and 2.17am the following day.
Saraswathy’s naked body was found with her hands tied near the Blue Water Estate roundabout last month.
Both men face charges under Section 302 of the Penal Code read together with Section 34.
If convicted, they could receive the death penalty or imprisonment between 30 and 40 years.
They would also face up to 12 strokes of the cane if not sentenced to death.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Lim Leong Hui handled the prosecution for the case.
Kaarthiek was represented by lawyer Sivahnanthan Ragava during the proceedings.
Hariprasanth’s legal representation included lawyers Kailash Sharma and Datin Raj Preet Kaur.
The court scheduled January 16 for mention pending chemical and post-mortem reports. – Bernama
