PETALING JAYA: Two men were charged in the Magistrate’s Court today with murdering a saleswoman whose body was discovered last month.

Information technology officer K. Kaarthiek, 26, and lorry driver A. Hariprasanth, 23, acknowledged the charges before Magistrate Shahril Anuar Ahmad Mustapha.

No plea was recorded since murder cases fall under High Court jurisdiction.

The duo are accused of killing 24-year-old Saraswathy Chan Chee Keong at Jalan Orkid near Blue Water Estate roundabout in Seri Kembangan.

The alleged murder occurred between 6.18pm on October 24, 2025, and 2.17am the following day.

Both men face charges under Section 302 of the Penal Code read together with Section 34.

If convicted, they could receive the death penalty or imprisonment between 30 and 40 years.

They would also face up to 12 strokes of the cane if not sentenced to death.

Kaarthiek was represented by lawyer Sivahnanthan Ragava during the proceedings.

Hariprasanth’s legal representation included lawyers Kailash Sharma and Datin Raj Preet Kaur.
