A German man in Malaysia praised a local spectacle repair service for its speed, convenience and efficient digital logistics.
A GERMAN man’s glowing review of a spectacle repair service recently triggered a wave of national pride among Malaysians online after his praise of a local vendor’s efficiency, particularly given Germany’s reputation for precision and efficiency.
“As a German living in Malaysia, I have to say this country sometimes impresses me with its everyday logistics,” he wrote in a viral Threads post.
The German explained that he initially wanted to send his broken spectacles for repair but was unable to do so because he could “barely see”, making it difficult for him to drive to the shop himself.

Faced with the situation, he decided to contact the vendor through WhatsApp and sent a photo of the damaged spectacles. Fortunately, the vendor said they could help with the repair, and the item was later sent to the shop through an e-hailing service at a cost of only RM8.
According to the man, the spectacles were repaired free of charge and were ready for collection within two hours on the same day. He paid another RM8 to have the spectacles delivered back to him.
“Honestly, I really have to respect the level of convenience and logistics. Terbaik!” he added.
The German man also remarked in the comments section that Malaysia’s flexibility in providing certain services had left him impressed, praising the convenience it offers in daily life.
“Honestly, Malaysia is very advanced in many everyday digital services. Things like cashless payments, WhatsApp customer service and app-based logistics are extremely practical,” he replied to a comment.
The foreigner’s post triggered a sense of appreciation among netizens, many of whom viewed his remarks as validation of the country’s progress in technological and digital convenience.
Many agreed that Malaysia’s practicality and convenience in everyday logistics are strengths often taken for granted locally but more readily appreciated by foreigners.
“I know, right? I can say that I’m really proud of my country for fully utilising digital technology compared to so-called first-world countries. In the United States and Canada, we still need small change to pay for parking fees, while in Malaysia we have already adopted a ticketless and cashless parking system,” one user wrote.
“High praise if a German commends our efficiency and logistics,” another commented.
