King of Malaysia Sultan Ibrahim graces investiture ceremony for federal awards at Istana Negara alongside Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim

KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, today graced the Investiture Ceremony for Federal Awards, Medals, and Honours at Istana Negara, here.

Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, was also in attendance at the ceremony, which was held in conjunction with His Majesty’s official birthday celebration.

Their Majesties were welcomed on arrival by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

The Prime Minister and his wife then escorted Their Majesties to the royal dais at Istana Negara grounds, where the King and Queen received a royal salute from the Main Guard of Honour of the 1st Battalion, Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD).

His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim inspected the Main Guard of Honour of the 1st Battalion, Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD) at the Audience Ceremony and Presentation of Federal Awards, Decorations and Medals 2026, held in conjunction with the Official Birthday of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at Istana Negara today.

The Main Guard of Honour comprised nine officers and 180 other ranks and was led by Captain Nor Saifullah Mahmad @ Mohammed.

At the same time, the national anthem Negaraku was played by the RAMD Central Band, as the King’s Royal Standard was hoisted, followed by a 21-gun salute by the 41st Battery of the Royal Artillery Regiment (Ceremonial).

Sultan Ibrahim then inspected the Main Guard of Honour before receiving another royal salute, marking the end of the ceremony at the parade ground.

Their Majesties were then accompanied by the Prime Minister and his wife to the Balairung Seri (Throne Room) for the 2026 Federal Awards Investiture Ceremony, where awards, medals and honours were conferred on 144 recipients.

Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, members of the Cabinet, including Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, as well as foreign envoys.

The investiture ceremony was held for the third time under Sultan Ibrahim since His Majesty’s installation as the King of Malaysia on July 20, 2024.

In total, 161 individuals were conferred Federal Awards, Honours and Medals for 2026 in conjunction with this year’s Official Birthday celebrations of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.
