Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected in eight states across Malaysia until 5 pm today, according to MetMalaysia.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in eight states until 5 pm today.
It said in a statement that such weather would be experienced in Perlis, Kedah and Penang, and several areas in Perak — Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung and Kinta.
Similar weather conditions are forecast in Kelantan (Kota Bharu, Bachok, Machang and Pasir Puteh), Terengganu (Besut, Setiu, Hulu Terengganu, Dungun and Kemaman) and Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut and Kuantan).
The areas affected in Sarawak are Kuching, Samarahan (Samarahan and Asajaya), Sri Aman, Mukah (Daro), Kapit (Song and Bukit Mabong), Miri (Marudi) and Limbang.
Warnings are issued when there are clear signs that indicate thunderstorms with rain intensity exceeding 20 mm per hour that occurred or expected to occur.
Thunderstorm warning is a short period warning that not exceeding six hours for a single issue.
