Sabah election candidates showcase support and service records

BN’s Mohamad Alamin gains Warisan supporters while PH’s Jannie Lasimbang highlights community service achievements in Sabah state election.

KOTA KINABALU: Candidates in the 17th Sabah state election are actively using social media to showcase campaign developments and community service records.

In Bongawan, Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Mohamad Alamin shared photos of Warisan supporters joining his campaign.

The Deputy Foreign Minister expressed appreciation for their voluntary support without coercion from any party.

“This reflects public awareness and free will, not a blow to any party,” he said in a Facebook post.

Mohamad emphasized that BN serves as the opposition in Sabah but governs at the federal level.

He pledged to continue serving as Kimanis MP while bringing development and progress to the people.

Meanwhile, Pakatan Harapan’s Kapayan candidate Datuk Jannie Lasimbang highlighted her community service achievements.

The incumbent assemblywoman’s service team helped over 8,000 families facing urgent difficulties within one year.

Her office prioritized women at risk, single mothers, and female caregivers in assistance programs.

The Kapayan Service Office currently records 5,000 beneficiaries receiving targeted support.

Another 10,751 residents receive general community assistance, predominantly from female-headed households.

“This data illustrates women’s daily burdens and reinforces my responsibility to ensure adequate support systems,” the statement noted.

Kapayan features a 12-cornered contest while Bongawan has nine candidates competing.

Polling for the 73 state seats occurs on November 29 with early voting on November 25. – Bernama
