Rakan KKM’s premium economy healthcare services at Cyberjaya Hospital start in December, offering doctor choice and enhanced comfort for patients.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Health’s new Rakan KKM initiative will launch at Cyberjaya Hospital in December.
This premium economy healthcare programme allows ministry specialists to perform specific medical procedures while boosting their earnings.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the initiative aims to retain specialists within the public sector.
“This is among the measures to ensure they are not compelled to leave MOH or take up locum work in the private sector,” he stated.
Patients choosing Rakan KKM services will receive standard MOH clinical care with additional benefits.
These include personalised attention, doctor selection, enhanced privacy and greater comfort.
Services cover specialist outpatient consultations, elective day procedures, surgeries and inpatient admissions.
Dzulkefly reaffirmed MOH’s commitment to improving public healthcare workers’ welfare.
This includes the 40% increase in on-call allowance announced under Budget 2026.
“MOH is also enhancing the critical allowance to help increase specialist’s income,” he added.
This approach reduces reliance on private locum work and prevents higher patient treatment costs.
The minister pledged to continue championing specialist welfare with appropriate compensation for long-serving consultants. – Bernama
