RM60 million allocated by KPKT for low-income home repairs and new housing in 2026, with RM45 million for repairs and RM15 million for construction
KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Housing and Local Government will allocate RM60 million in 2026 for home repairs and new construction for low-income households nationwide.
Minister Nga Kor Ming announced that RM45.06 million is designated for home repairs while RM14.94 million will fund new housing under the 13th Malaysia Plan.
He made the announcement during the Mah Sing Foundation’s 20th Anniversary Charity Dinner, highlighting the government’s commitment to vulnerable communities.
Nga also revealed a separate RM12 million allocation for the Pemerkasaan Ekonomi Komuniti Bandar programme to empower underprivileged urban households.
The programme focuses on skills training, financial literacy and entrepreneurship support through NGO collaborations.
“I am encouraged by the foundation’s focus on People’s Housing Project communities like PPR Seri Semarak,” he said.
Nga noted that initiatives addressing mental health, literacy, youth empowerment and entrepreneurship help build stronger families.
He added that the empowerment programme aligns with KPKT’s holistic vision for public housing communities.
This vision prioritises housing quality alongside improvements in health, safety, education and social cohesion.
Nga also highlighted the success of the Housing Credit Guarantee Scheme for first-time homebuyers without fixed income documentation.
“As of August, 95,460 homebuyers have benefited from guaranteed loans totalling RM22.7 billion,” he said.
Under the MADANI government, KPKT will continue strengthening the People, Public, Private Partnership principle.
This approach aims to improve housing outcomes and community well-being across Malaysia. – Bernama
