Malaysia climb to 116th in latest FIFA world rankings

Harimau Malaya move up two places to 116th in the FIFA rankings, continuing their steady rise from 131st position in April.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Harimau Malaya squad has climbed to 116th in the latest FIFA world rankings despite ongoing off-field controversies at the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).

Peter Cklamovski’s team rose two positions from their 118th place ranking last month.

Malaysia has shown consistent improvement since being ranked 131st in April.

Thailand remains the highest-ranked Southeast Asian team at 95th globally.

Vietnam follows at 110th, with Indonesia at 122nd, the Philippines at 136th and Singapore at 151st.

Japan continues to lead Asian football at 18th in the world rankings.

Iran holds the second position among Asian teams at 20th globally, while South Korea ranks third in Asia at 22nd worldwide.

Spain maintains its position as the world’s number one team.

Argentina sits in second place globally, with France completing the top three. – Bernama
