Talian Kasih 15999 hotline received 9,327 domestic violence calls from 2022 to May 2025, with most cases resolved.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Talian Kasiah 15999 hotline recorded 9,327 calls related to domestic violence cases from 2022 to May this year, said Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Lim Hui Ying.
She said the figure was part of a total of 127,000 calls involving various social and welfare complaints received during the same period.
“Of the total number of domestic violence calls received, all complaints from 2022 to 2025 have been fully resolved.
“Meanwhile, from January to May this year, 470 calls were received, of which 406 cases have been resolved, while the remaining 64 are still under action,” she said during the Minister’s Question time in Parliament.
She was responding to a question from Datuk Muslimin Yahaya (PN-Sungai Besar), who wanted to know about the effectiveness of Talian Kasih and the rate of cases that received follow-up intervention.
Lim said that among the follow-up actions taken to protect the safety of victims were assistance in obtaining an Emergency Protection Order (EPO), an Interim Protection Order (IPO) or placement in a safe shelter.
In addition, she said the trend of domestic violence cases is no longer limited to women, but is also showing an increase in cases involving men as victims.
“Although the number of male victims is smaller, this increasing trend is still there. A such, under the ministry, we do not only protect women, but also safeguard the welfare of all races and genders without prejudice,” she added.
