Diesel sale restrictions cancelled in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan

KPDN revokes diesel purchase limits for land vehicles in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan, effective tomorrow, aligning with new subsidised pricing.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has canceled the directive regulating diesel sales to land transport vehicles in Sabah, Sarawak, and the Federal Territory of Labuan, including the purchase limits of 50 liters, 100 liters, and 150 liters, effective tomorrow.

KPDN Director-General of Enforcement Datuk Azman Adam said the revocation of the Directive on Implementing Control of Diesel Sales to Land Transport Vehicles dated March 27, 2026, follows Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s announcement on June 21 regarding the standardisation of subsidised diesel prices under the BUDI Diesel Programme at RM2.10 per liter.

He added that the cancellation is also in line with the implementation of a new mechanism for purchasing subsidised diesel using MyKad at petrol stations, which also takes effect tomorrow.

“In relation to this, all retail scheduled controlled goods license holders selling petrol or diesel in the states of Sabah, Sarawak, and the Federal Territory of Labuan are requested to take note that the diesel sale restriction directive on land transport vehicles is no longer in force starting from that date,” he said in a statement today.

Azman said KPDN is confident that the new mechanism introduced by the government will ensure the distribution of subsidised diesel is carried out in a more targeted, efficient, and effective manner, while also facilitating transactions for eligible consumers.

He stated that KPDN also urges all parties to fully comply with the newly set mechanism to ensure its smooth implementation for the benefit of the people and the nation.
