Cloud-based clinical management system reduces patient waiting times in health clinics to under 60 minutes

The Health Ministry’s (MOH) Cloud-Based Clinical Management System (CCMS) has reduced patient waiting times at government health clinics.

PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry’s (MOH) Cloud-Based Clinical Management System (CCMS) has reduced patient waiting times at government health clinics, with 81% of patients now seeing medical officers within 60 minutes.

Deputy Health Minister Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib said that before the CCMS was introduced, patients at some health clinics had to wait up to three hours, depending on patient turnout and clinic workload.

“Current monitoring data shows that 81% of patients are able to see medical officers within 60 minutes, while the remaining 19% receive treatment within 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the severity of cases and the clinic’s workload,” she told the Dewan Rakyat today.

Hanifah said the implementation of the CCMS at health clinics, the Dental Information System (DIS) at dental clinics and the District Hospital Information System (DHIS) at hospitals had improved service efficiency while helping to reduce congestion at public healthcare facilities.

She was responding to a question from Salamiah Mohd Nor (PN-Temerloh) on the effectiveness of public healthcare digitalisation initiatives, including MySejahtera and electronic health records, in reducing congestion at public hospitals.

Hanifah said the ministry would continue expanding healthcare digitalisation, with plans to implement the CCMS at 2,917 health clinics and the DIS at 728 dental clinics nationwide by 2028.

On MySejahtera, she said the application currently allows the public to make appointments for 18 types of healthcare services at health and dental clinics.

“The platform has recorded 29 million appointment transactions to date, with the service set to be expanded to specialist clinics at hospitals,” she said.

Hanifah added that the ministry was integrating the CCMS with MySejahtera, which currently stores the health records of about 30 million individuals.

“The records include vaccination details, 12 million prescription records, five million dental records, five million health screening records and one million clinic visit summaries, enabling easier access to patient information, faster treatment and better continuity of care across healthcare facilities,” she said.
