Victim swept away five days ago identified; body recovered from waste trap near Kampung Sungai Kandis.
KUALA LUMPUR: The body of a man who was swept away by a water surge in the Klang River near the Saloma Link on Monday was found today near Kampung Sungai Kandis, Shah Alam, about 65 kilometres from the incident site.
Dang Wangi Police chief ACP Sazalee Adam confirmed the discovery of the body at 10.30 am.
“The body will be taken to Shah Alam Hospital for a post-mortem,” he said when contacted.

Meanwhile, Sazali told a press conference later that the victim had been identified by family members based on physical features, including a tattoo of his name on his arm.
“The body was found caught in a waste trap at Kampung Sungai Kandis. It was intact but had begun to decompose after five days of being missing, with the clothes slightly torn and without shoes,” he said.
Sazali said the body will be handed over to the family tomorrow once the post-mortem is completed.
“Following the discovery, the Incident Control Post (PKTK) was closed at 3 pm today, and the case remains classified as sudden death,” he said.
In the 5.40 pm incident on Monday, K. Suresh, 37, a construction site supervisor, was swept away by a water surge near the Saloma Link after being trapped under the bridge.
The incident also involved 11 other victims who were trapped under the bridge, but they were successfully rescued. – Bernama
