Berjaya Cares Foundation chairman Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun said the foundation believes education plays a vital role in improving lives and creating opportunities.

PETALING JAYA: Berjaya Cares Foundation (BCF), the charitable arm of Berjaya Corporation Berhad (BCorp), has contributed RM100,000 to SJK(C) Bukit Tangga in Rawang to support the construction of a new two-storey building aimed at improving the school’s educational facilities.

The contribution was presented to the school’s Board of Management chairman, Datuk Lee Kai Weng, during a cheque handover ceremony witnessed by principal Wong Oli Lee and other school officials.

According to BCF, the new building will help address growing enrolment at the school by providing additional teaching and learning facilities.

BCF Chairman Tan Sri Vincent Tan said the foundation believes education plays a vital role in improving lives and creating opportunities.

“Education has the power to change lives and is the key to uplifting communities out of poverty. Through this contribution, we aim to make quality education more accessible and ensure students have equal opportunities to realise their full potential,” he said.

Established in 2011, SJK(C) Bukit Tangga has seen a steady increase in student enrolment, resulting in a shortage of classrooms and supporting facilities.

The new building will include seven dedicated rooms for counselling, music, health, design and technology, prayer, visual arts, education and meetings, as well as additional restroom facilities for students and teachers.

Lee expressed appreciation for the donation, saying it would help improve the school’s infrastructure and provide a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.

“On behalf of the board, teachers and students, we are sincerely grateful for BCF’s generous contribution towards our new project. The funding will enable us to enhance our learning infrastructure, creating a more conducive environment for teaching and learning that will benefit both our students and teachers,” he said.

BCF said it has continued to support community development initiatives across Malaysia, particularly through educational assistance for underprivileged students, in-kind aid for pupils from low-income families and humanitarian relief efforts.
